  2. Just listening to the NPR programme over the internet in London and had to take a look - these are just beautiful 'outsider' paintings. What is really moving is the way Ray talks about becoming an artist and how it makes him feel - I'm going to give the mp3 to my students. EARS, University of the Arts, London, England

  3. I hear the interview while driving in Omaha, NE, and I couldn't wait to get to my laptop to check his work, and it's really amazing, so pure so natural and organic, without the modern regulation of art. Besides He seems to be really modest making his work look greater.

  4. I also heard the interview while running an errand and sat in the garage to finish it but couldn't wait to go in and google his artwork. Quite wonderful work and great interview! Thanks for another great program

  5. I just heard Mr Mathews' story on NPR in the Baltimore area. It is inspiring and I am certain that he deserves the rewards and attention that he is getting.

  6. Lucky for me that I live in Durham. I can go to Ray's show in Chapel Hill on Sat. This episode of The Story was wonderful. I sat in my car in front of my house so I could hear it all. Janet, thank you for your strong faith; your persistence and willingness to act through your fear of the unknown has brought Ray, an amazing artist to the world.

  7. I also had to run into the house after I got home to listen to the rest of The Story online. What a great story, and what a wonderful thing for Janet to do. I am so glad for a great story like this, and wonderful artists like Ray.

  8. I guess I'm not alone! Like several others, I too sat in the car in our driveway to hear the end of Ray's story. Another testiment to how a kind gesture from one can do so much for it's recipent. At the end of the program, I was not surprised by the beautiful and touching artwork posted on his web site. I wish Ray all the best and look forward to seeing more of his talent.
